Mr. Wayan Teja, is a silversmith from the Island of the Gods. He started combining materials like silver, copper, and brass since the 70’s. in 1982, Mr. Aseng as the owner and founder of Maharani handy craft for the first time migrating to the Island of the Gods. It was in that time where they met and discuss about natural stones and silver craft. Feeling the match with the conversation about natural stones and having the same purposes which is to develop silver jewelry crafts to the international arena, they agreed to work together as partners.
At the end Mr. Aseng decided to start ordering some of the craft’s that is made by Mr. Wayan. With the trust and intuition of a businessman, Mr. Aseng then marketed his silver handicrafts to both domestic and foreign tourists. As a result, with the right combination of orders growing rapidly from week to week. The crafts made by Mr. Wayan were shell earrings, dragon rings, and other accessories that could be used to sweeten the fashion look at that time.
Years to years has past, there are already more than a thousand silver and natural stones handy craft that has been through hand polished from Mr. Wayan. With his hope to keep making this silver jewelry creation, he wanted to let the world know that Indonesia’s handy craft could compete overseas creation and keep introducing to the next generation that the skills and expertise to make silver jewelry are the original cultural heritage of Indonesia.
